JD Beltran
JD Beltran is an impact and cultural activist, strategist, journalist, and designer, who, for more than fifteen years, has advanced organizational initiatives that address cultural, social, environmental, and economic challenges. She also is an award-winning filmmaker, artist, and educator. She founded and directs the Center for Creative Sustainability consultancy in San Francisco.
Verda Alexander
With Studio O+A, a SF Interior Design firm specializing in workplace design with clients like Microsoft and Yelp, Verda has combined a career in art and design with a passionate commitment to improving lives through design. Her experimental projects for O+A, from pop-up installations on the future of workplace to a mobile design lab partnering with communities across California, have consistently opened new doors of exploration in the company’s approach to more mainstream projects.
Paulina MacFarland
After earning a BFA in painting and MFA in design, Paulina went on to build internal brand campaigns for corporate clients; worked as a creative director for an art collective; published an art magazine; served as a brand consultant for Bay Area nonprofits; worked at several design and strategy agencies and expanded into textile design. She has been a designer at studio O-plus-A since 2017.
Alessandro Battisti
Alessandro Battisti is a design strategist at Fern, specializing in behavior change. Prior to co-founding Fern, Alessandro designed behavior change services at The Wrecking Crew, and designed websites, apps, and new product experiences at Fuseproject and TuneIn. Alessandro holds a BfA in Interaction Design from California College of the Arts and graduated with distinction.
Colin Swenson
is a designer, researcher, strategist and artist. Prior to co-founding Fern, a community-centered design firm, Colin developed and launched award winning products for national brands at The Wrecking Crew, was a Design Resident at Natalie Jeremijenko's Environmental Health Clinic, and ran his own freelance consulting practice focused on social impact.
